What made you choose Regent's American
College London?
There were several reasons why I thought this would be the place
for me to study.
Having left school at 17 and not having had the opportunity to
experience further education, I was keen to take a degree course
that not only reflected my interest in writing and the various
aspects of media but also to be in a location that was familiar to
me. It was important that I would be able to maintain as much of a
normal life without uprooting myself!
Perhaps it was also the fact that I felt that my age would not
be a handicap (I am 38), and that the transition back into full
time education would be easier if I was in London.
The admissions staff also made me feel welcome, but there is no
doubt that the lure of an American style media degree was a
deciding factor.
What are you enjoying about studying here?
After years of working in the City, I am using my brain
again!
On a more serious note, it is good to be back learning and
especially the subjects that I have chosen (even Fencing in Summer
School was fun!) that I believe will help me develop as a writer.
What I find rewarding is the fact that I am older than the other
students, I have seen a touch more of life and so can pass on some
“wisdom” to those who are starting out (if they want it) and it
ensures some lively class debates.
The mix of American and European students works very well, and
even though the majority of the study abroad students are only here
for a semester, it seems that they are here for longer such is the
effect they leave on the campus.
To sum it all up would be good classes, good location and good
friends!
