Study Abroad in Europe
More than 800 undergraduate students are enrolled in the Webster
programs across Europe. The Webster student population across
Europe includes US citizens, host-country citizens and students
from more than 100 countries.
Vienna, Austria
Webster University Vienna
is located on the banks of the River Danube with its host of
sporting facilities. The campus’s impressive location is reflected
in the fact that the Vienna headquarters of the United Nations is
located a few blocks from the campus. In fact, Vienna’s second city
centre is being built almost on Webster’s doorstep. The stunning
old city centre with its many museums, cultural sites and
attractions is only 20 minutes by public transport from the
university campus.
The Vienna campus student body and faculty are extremely
multi-cultural reflecting Vienna’s historic role as a crossroad in
Central Europe. Vienna has a rich cultural heritage and a lively
arts scene.
Webster Vienna believes very strongly in professional
development as a primary objective. More than 25 companies
participate in the thriving internship program and a Professional
Development Centre, which was established to service the needs of
the local business community.
Webster University introduced the first MBA to Austria in 1985
and is the first and only private university to be recognised by
the Ministry of Science and Research.
Geneva, Switzerland
Webster University Geneva is located
on a two-hectare estate just eight minutes from central Geneva. Two
impressive modern buildings house a library, full-service cafeteria
and a computer laboratory with Internet and e-mail access, as well
as a student lounge. The campus housing co-ordinator can arrange
off-campus accommodation for you.
Geneva is a well-known international political and social centre
with the United Nations and many corporate representations from
around the world. This has created a multi-cultural community that
is also shown in the student body at Webster in Geneva. There are
over 80 nationalities represented on the campus.
Webster has close contact with the UN High Commission for
Refugees and offers the only Migration and Refugees Studies Program
at any US University in Europe. Every year, Geneva International
Relations students organise a conference on humanitarian and other
relevant international issues, attended by speakers from the
various international organisations present in Geneva as well as
student speakers, members of the press and members of the
international community. Recent conferences have featured
contributions by Mrs Ogata, UN High Commissioner for Refugees and
Mrs Mary Robinson, Head of the Human Rights Committee.
Leiden, The Netherlands
An
historic building on a canal in the centre of the old town is home
to the Leiden University
campus. Leiden is the oldest town in the Netherlands. The
University of Leiden, with its vibrant campus life, is nearby and
has facilities accessible to Webster students.
The small class sizes and personal environment of the Webster
University campus fit well into this close-knit and intellectually
rich community. Webster has dormitory rooms that are only a
twenty-minute walk from the campus. There is also a campus housing
coordinator who arranges rooms for new students.
Leiden is thirty minutes by rail from Amsterdam, and twenty
minutes from The Hague, home to many international organisations.
The student population at Webster University is comparably
international – over 30% speak three languages and more than 20%
speak four languages or more
