Learning OutcomesA broad-based study of a range of contemporary film in context, with a focus on narrative trends. This course will introduce a range of films from the U.S, Europe and Asia, with an emphasis on contemporary contexts, exploring style, text and subtext in films that challenge notions of genre and storytelling. On completing this course, students will have a critical analysis of contemporary cinema at this level, with an ability to express complex ideas in writing.
PresentationWeekly screenings and class discussion. A mid-semester paper (approx. 200 words) and class seminar, followed by a final paper on a related topic in week 13.
