Learning Outcomes
To explore the history, context and development of European Cinema from the early 20th century to the present day. This survey will focus on key film works, (with particular reference to directors in France, Britain, Italy, and Spain) with attention to narrative trends, and cross-cultural and international contexts.
Classes will consist of screenings of extracts of films, followed by class discussion. Students are expected to produce a short paper for a seminar mid-semester, and a final paper for Week 13.
