Learning Outcomes	To emphasize social and cultural explanations of gender as opposed to biological accounts of ‘sex’ To analyse a range of ways in which gender roles are acquired and how different forms of masculinity and femininity have developed and changed To examine the link between gender inequality and ideology especially in terms of the organization of work To understand historical and cross-cultural perspectives on gender and sex roles
Presentation	A range of methods will be used to deliver this course. These will include visual materials and presentations, worksheets, Q and A sessions, student presentations and lecturing. Readings will be indicated for each class and it is essential that students complete these before class in order to be fully prepared.
Pre-Requisites	12 credit hours of social science or permission of the instructor
